A lightweight waterproof raincoat for Italian Greyhounds and Whippets, designed for the days when it's too warm for a fleece but too wet to go without a coat.
Made from fully waterproof fabric and lined with breathable Airtex mesh, this lightweight dog raincoat provides protection from rain and wind without trapping excess heat. It is designed as a practical outer layer for spring showers, summer downpours and unpredictable autumn weather, while still leaving room for layering underneath during colder months.
Unlike many dog raincoats that only cover the back, this design extends across the chest as well. Anyone who shares their life with an Italian Greyhound or Whippet knows that rain rarely stays on the back for long. Water is thrown onto the chest and underside with every step. Additional chest coverage helps keep more of the dog dry during wet walks.
The adjustable snood can be worn loose around the neck or tightened using the integrated cord lock to help keep rain and wind away from the neck and ears. For dogs who dislike rain on their head, the snood can also be worn over the ears for additional protection in heavier weather.
Available with or without a harness opening. The optional harness opening allows the lead to pass through the coat to a harness worn underneath. When not in use, an internal protective flap sits behind the opening to help minimise water entering through the slit.
A covered collar access point provides an alternative lead attachment option while helping keep rain away from the neck.
The silhouette follows the natural shape of Italian Greyhounds and Whippets, providing protection without excess fabric, unnecessary bulk or the oversized look of traditional dog raincoats. The result is a waterproof coat that moves naturally with the dog while maintaining the clean lines of the sighthound body.
Composition & Care
Wash at 30°C or lower on a reduced cycle to keep the garment looking its best over time.
Do not tumble dry or bleach.

Covered collar access
A concealed collar opening allows lead attachment while keeping rain away from the neck. No exposed slit. No flapping fabric.
Optional harness opening
Available with or without a harness opening.
The concealed opening allows easy lead attachment to a harness worn underneath. A protective internal flap sits behind the slit to reduce rain entering through the opening when harness hole is not in use.
Frequently asked questions
Is this raincoat suitable for summer?
Yes. This is a lightweight waterproof raincoat designed for mild, wet weather, including summer rain showers. The breathable Airtex mesh lining helps improve airflow and comfort, making it suitable for temperatures up to around 22°C.
We do not recommend wearing any coat during hot weather. If temperatures rise above 22°C, most Italian Greyhounds and Whippets will be more comfortable without additional layers.
Can it be worn in winter?
Yes. The Lightweight Raincoat is designed as a waterproof outer layer rather than an insulated winter coat. On its own, it is best suited to mild, wet weather and the transitional months between seasons.
As temperatures drop below 13°C, we recommend layering it over knitwear, fleece or a onesie for additional warmth. In colder winter conditions, around 7°C and below, most Italian Greyhounds and Whippets will be more comfortable in a warmer insulated coat rather than relying on the Lightweight Raincoat as their primary outerwear.
Is it fully waterproof?
Yes. The outer fabric is fully waterproof and designed to keep your dog dry during wet-weather walks. The extended chest coverage helps protect the area that typically gets wet first during rain.
How long will it take to get my order?
Every Strela piece is cut and sewn in London once your order is placed. Please allow 1–3 weeks for your garment to be crafted with care before it is dispatched from our studio.
What are the shipping costs?
Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on your delivery address and the weight of your order.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide via tracked delivery. Please note that international orders may be subject to import duties or local taxes depending on the location, which are the responsibility of the customer
What is your return policy?
As each piece is made specifically for your order, we operate an exchange-only policy. We want you to have the perfect fit, so if the size isn’t quite right, we are happy to facilitate an exchange for a different size or store credit within 14 days of delivery.
